Capistrano Unified Pauses Routine Weed Spraying at Ladera Health Watch’s Request

A very important update: Capistrano Unified School District has implemented a 60-day pause on the routine use of landscape maintenance products and spray applications used for weed management while the district evaluates alternative products and maintenance practices. This applies to all schools in the district.

We want to give special thanks to CUSD Trustee Lisa Zollinger for listening to the concerns of Ladera Ranch families and helping move this precautionary step forward. Lisa responded with care, took the issue seriously, and worked quickly to help ensure the district had time to review its current practices and consider safer alternatives.

This is exactly the kind of thoughtful, common-sense response we appreciate seeing. We are very grateful to Lisa and CUSD for acting out of an abundance of caution and putting student health first.
